THE FOUNDATION
Genetics & Authenticity
Fountaindale Farm is committed to producing micro miniature Highland cattle of verified, traceable bloodlines. We work with the world's finest micro miniature Highland genetics, utilising the ANZ licensee pathway to access internationally recognised breeding programs.
Every animal in our program has documented lineage. We believe that authentic genetics — not speculation — are the foundation of a sustainable micro miniature Highland breeding program. Our goal is to build a consistent, genetically verified herd that upholds the true standards of the breed.
Our foundation herd plan targets up to 10 micro cows and 1–2 bulls, selected specifically for conformation, temperament, and genetic authenticity.
REPRODUCTIVE SCIENCE
Embryo Transfer & Artificial Insemination
To build the most genetically consistent and superior herd possible, Fountaindale Farm employs embryo transfer (ET) and artificial insemination (AI) — the same technologies used by the world's leading boutique cattle programs.
These tools allow us to maximise the genetic contribution of our best foundation females, access elite sire genetics from international programs without compromising our biosecurity protocols, and accelerate herd development while maintaining the highest standards of authenticity.
All ET and AI work is conducted in partnership with Murribrook ET Services in Moss Vale — one of Australia's most respected reproductive service providers — ensuring every procedure is carried out by qualified reproductive veterinarians and embryologists to the highest standard. We maintain complete records of all procedures, donor and sire identities, and resultant calves.

Calving & Our Bottle Baby Protocol
Every calf born at Fountaindale Farm is raised under our bottle baby protocol — hand-raised from birth with intensive daily human contact. This is not simply a marketing claim; it is a deliberate, time-intensive process that produces genuinely docile, human-bonded animals.
Our bottle babies are handled multiple times daily, halter introduced within their first weeks of life, and given enriching human interaction throughout their development. The result is a calf that is genuinely safe, handleable, and a joy to work with — not just at Fountaindale, but for life, wherever they go.
From Day One
Human handling begins at birth, establishing lifelong trust and docility.
Halter Trained
All calves are halter introduced and taught to lead before sale.
Health Testing
Johne's disease testing and other critical health screening conducted on all new arrivals and as part of our regular herd health programme.
Full Transperancy
Every calf sold includes a complete health summary. No surprises — buyers receive full documentation of vaccinations, worming, and veterinary history.
HEALTH & BIOSECURITY
Our Health Standards
Comprehensive biosecurity and health management protocols have been established to protect our herd and the animals we sell.
All new animals entering the property undergo a mandatory quarantine period with health assessments before integration with the main herd.
